Senior Madeline "Maddie" Kennel was recently named to the Commercial Appeal's Academic All-Star list in the English and Literature category. She is the seventh ICCS student to receive this honor in the 2015-16 academic year.  A 16-year-old senior, Madeline grew up in Kara, Togo in West Africa, where she and younger sister Michael, an ICCS freshman, served alongside their family as missionaries.

A voracious reader with a love for classic writers, Madeline is a top student with a keen intellectual curiosity, exceptional communication skills and a strong work ethic.  She holds a 3.773 weighted grade point average and scored a composite ACT score of 27, with a 34 on the English section.   An aspiring writer, she is the author of a blog, “Bush Child,” and participated for four years in National Novel Writing Month, in which she wrote a 50,000-word novel each year.  Madeline is a member of the Beta Club and president of the ICCS French Club.  She also dabbles in theatre and recently performed in CBHS’ performance of “Golden Boy.”  Madeline plans to pursue college studies in Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs.
