Senior Spotlight: Lilya Manuel

Today's Senior Spotlight is on Lilya Manuel. Lilya plans to pursue a career in music recording/singing and song-writing and will attend either Visible Music College or Southwest Community College. Throughout her high school days, she’s been part of several sports teams, clubs, and activities including basketball, soccer, track, International Spanish Club, Catholic Ministry, Teens for Life, and has been an altar server at school Masses in the Cathedral. Lilya also stays busy with her jobs at Napa Café and Bangkok Alley, tutoring, and volunteering for Ronald McDonald’s House, Catholic Charities, St. Vincent De Paul, and University of Memphis. Lilya says she is most grateful to ICCS for helping her to be the best version of herself, for the sisterhood she feels with her classmates, and for teachers who taught her to be an independent thinker. “My teachers taught me how to love myself and have faith in myself,” Lilya says. She adds: “Mrs. Khouzam said to me, ‘You have to pray to God every day and hope you have a great day.’" She is thankful for her parents, friends, and teachers, all of whom she says helped her to grow into the person she is today.
